Little Pim Partners
Research shows that children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds arrive at school with 50% fewer vocabulary words than peers from middle class homes. This shortfall seriously impedes a child’s social and academic development. Studies have shown that children who perform in the lowest 20% of their class in kindergarten continue to struggle throughout their academic careers often dropping out of high school or at best graduating at the bottom of their class.
In response to this alarming statistic, Little Pim has launched a charitable initiative to support the nation’s most distinguished early education organizations. Through Little Pim Partners, Little Pim will donate thousands of dollars of books, language DVDs and learning cards to non-profit organizations committed to increasing the English language skills of at-risk children before they enter Kindergarten.
One Little Pim Partner is the Astor Home for Children in Rhinebeck, NY, an Early Headstart program that benefits and educates both parents and children. For more than 30 years, Astor has been a vocal advocate for early education and intervention. With its gift of nearly $50,000 worth of Little Pim products, Astor will be able to give Little Pim English language DVDs to every family in Dutchess County participating in its preschool programs.
