The Method
Little Pim is the brainchild of Julia Pimsleur Levine, who was inspired by her childhood experience and scientific studies to create Little Pim. She is the daughter of Dr. Paul Pimsleur, a renowned language professor, who revolutionized an internationally acclaimed audio teaching method decades ago. By the age of six, Julia had already achieved fluency in French through audio immersion, interaction and play.
Little Pim’s method for language development is total immersion, combined with playful animation and live-action video. The title character, an animated Panda Bear named Little Pim, introduces conversational words and phrases, which are in a stimulating visual context for children and also written on the screen for the parents or caregivers. Little Pim engages young viewers with his own playful antics and images of real children enjoying everyday activities. Each Little Pim DVD focuses on the first words and phrases typically acquired in a toddler’s primary language. This familiar vocabulary enables your family to easily repeat the new language during your own daily routines.
Little Pim DVDs are paced for developing minds, with simple sentences broken down into easy-to-understand parts, and reinforced through repetition. Each program is segmented into seven 5-minute episodes to accommodate a young child’s attention span and encourage pausing for parent interaction. Watch Little Pim with your little one and repeat the words together. The more you interact with the language, the easier the lessons become and the more your child will learn.
